Hey to you, too. Call me anytime.

So, the SuperBowl has come and gone.

The halftime show was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time - Tom Petty and his posse proved that classics are timeless. And rocked that stage as only a true classic act can. Runnin’ Down a Dream - my favorite song by them - amazing live!

And the game. Gotta admit - it was a great, edge-of-your-seat tug-o-war game. The Giants struggled, scraped, and shimmied through the season as the underdog - and in the end, came away with well-earned bragging rights for the next year. Next up? The big parade down in the Canyon tomorrow. Expect utter mayhem.

But, what about those commercials!

Eli - the other white meat. I mean Manning.

Go Colts!

Brothers ManningOh yeah, that was LAST year!

I post this, arguably jealous that it’s the wrong Manning at the helm in tomorrow’s super showdown of smack-talkin’ pigskinners. It should be Peyton there, and the Colts. Again.

Alas, my team was bumped from a ‘repeat’ by the Chargers. Not only the Chargers. But the Chargers’ B-Team. That’s just plain out SAD! I’m not gonna dwell on that game. Too painful. :downtown:

I.Am.Not.A.Giants.Fan.

But, I’m gonna pull for Eli and the Giants. Why? He is Peyton’s baby brother. And I’ll admit - I’m psyched at the possibility of the Brothers Manning having back-to-back SuperBowl wins. Granted, they’ve already made history just by the fact they’ve represented in back-to-back SB’s. Coolness.

Good luck Eli. Did I really just say that? Yeah, I guess I did.

What’s my prediction? Giants win it - by 3. :cheer:
What’s your pick?

P.S. I hear the gamblers are wagering on how many times the cameras will pan to Gisele. Gee, wondering if they’re wagering on Jessica showing up with Romeo? (I’m just saying.) :dunno:

Football Follies: Slaughtering of the Lambs, or Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore.

Date October 29, 2007

tb44Over the weekend, I went to upstate New York to visit and watch my nephew, Tyler, play football. He’s a senior and co-captain of the IRHS team, and lives and breathes football. His team had another great year - undefeated during the regular season, and now in playoffs.

I fed updates of the game to my sister, who was out of town, via text messages. Looking back at them, you can see why the team is undefeated:

4:29pm: Opening kickoff of the game - IR ran back [87 yards] for a TD .. Jared? somebody? The crowd is fired up!

4:32pm: BTW, sitting here in a sea of blue - thanks for giving me a red jacket to wear which coincidentally is the color of the opposing team. Getting some glares from those around me. Having to reassure them I’m for IR. ;)

4:37pm: Curtis just ran in a TD. Tyler got the conversion. Score is 16-0.

4:48pm: another TD for Curtis.

Kibbles and Bits…

harvestmoonThis has been one crazy week! Was it the moon? Was it the water? Was it the lack of alcohol? I don’t know, but the feathers were flying. And now that the weekend’s here, they’ve settled.

On the up side - earlier this week, the Harvest Moon graced us with its appearance, and what a beautiful one it was.

I guess that means we’re officially in Fall now. The leaves are turning, dropping, and piling up on the ground.

Thinking there may be a mini-adventure in store for the weekend - find some nice photo ops. Nothing like last weekend’s adventure up at Mohegan. Why haven’t I made any mentions about last weekend? That’s a tightly kept secret for only the fortunate who were there. Yessiree.

So the mini-adventure, is it too early to go pumpkin picking? I mean, Halloween is just around the corner. Kiddies will be out rolling yards, begging strangers for candy, and keeping dentists employed for another year. At least I know my son’s will.

And speaking of the son, he received a letter earlier this week with an invitation to spend three weeks next Summer in Australia through a student ambassador program. With a little trepidation, we signed up for a meeting to discuss this further. Not only can he repel from the side of a volcano, but he can go snorkeling, and traveling through the countryside. Never mind the fact that he’s afraid of heights and not an excellent swimmer. It’s still an amazing opportunity.

You know, it dawned on me the other day Christmas is less than three months away. I’m not even close to being in that mindset yet - and won’t be until at least Thanksgiving. And speaking of Thanksgiving - Football! (Like that segue?)

corn from the jarWell, the Vols have the weekend off and - hopefully - are getting themselves ready to take on Georgia next weekend. Looking forward to a good game. They’ll be playing at Neyland - hopefully the home field advantage fuels a victory.

More corn from da jar boys -more corn!!

peymarvWe’re in Week 4 of the NFL already. Oh my gosh - already 1/4 of the way through the season - can that be right? Didn’t it just start?

My Colts are doing great: 3-0. Darned proud of you boys! And hoping to keep it going as Peyton, Marvin and the rest of the boys are hosting the Broncos on Sunday.

Well, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, have a great weekend everyone. I plan to do the same. To amuse you, I leave you this tasty tidbit from a few years back. The men won’t like it much, but the ladies will.
