Where’ve I been?

The past two days have been an exercise in reclamation:

1) It is done. The tree is finally down. Yes, the Christmas tree. Yes, I know it’s February. Surely I’m not the only one who still had one up?

2) I think I just threw out half of my belongings. Okay, not half, but with as much stuff I took to the dump, seemed like half. Looking around, I ponder how the hell I accumulate so much junk! Seriously. Seems every year, I end up buying more crates to hold the priceless junk that I won’t part with. Of course, the rationale is that, as soon as I throw out a rather useless looking item, I’ll need it the following day. Isn’t that the way it usually is?

Round 2 starts tomorrow. Tackling my bedroom.

Woo-hoo - the joy!

Is it a bad thing that my Christmas tree is still adorning the corner of my living room? Fully decorated, too?

At this time of the year, being with the ones you love and care about - friends, family - is the true meaning of the holiday - not what gifts will I get or should I give.

The heartfelt cheer and laughter that rings through the house; the longing to be with those who are dear yet far-away; the coming together of those nearby, and fond memories recollected of those who have passed — appreciate and cherish all these moments while they’re available to you.
