Day 15: Lights, Camera, Action.

Date December 15, 2007

Headed into the city (NYC) armed with a camera, my sister, and three teenage girls. We’re planning on seeing the tree at Rockefeller Plaza, gaze at the decorated store windows, play amongst the kids at FAO Schwarz, and ice skate at Rockefeller.

Hope you’re shopping journeys (if out and about) are unstressful, and full of merriment. :)

Isn’t he/she adorable? Oh soooooo cute. And huggable.

I need a little companion like that.

Did you ever receive a pet for Christmas?

Day 13: Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

Date December 13, 2007

Today we heralded in a small snowstorm. Enough of one that it closed (or brought early closure to) all of the school districts, and many of the offices in the area, including mine.

Earlier in the day, I was at the office and, gazing outside, saw huge Golilath-sized snowflakes (as my son so eloquently put it) covering the ground. As I sat and daydreamed of building snowmen and having snowball fights, I also wished I had a roaring fire and pot of hot chocolate to wile away the day. My daydream was abruptly interrupted by the ringing phone, which snapped me back to reality and the projects requiring my attention.

A little later, I was texting Nick (who was now home from school - which is 1/2 hour from my office):
wintersnowMoi: whats it doin over there?
Nick: rly heavy here. sticking too.
Moi: same here. huge flakes.
Nick: huge snowflakes. had like golilath flakes the size of my head. lol. the street is covered in seconds.
Moi: whats the forecast?
Nick: well bob im presuming more snow along with snow
(Wisenheimer, ain’t he!! Too bad he can’t make money off of his sarcastic wit. Yet.)

This weekend, another major storm is supposed to be making its way through the northeast. Some people won’t like it much - it’ll put a damper on their already “crisis mode” shopping jaunts; while others, such as myself, will languish in the beauty and stillness of the new fallen snow.

[Update 12/14/2007: Bummer. They cancelled the blizzard warning. Instead, will be just a repeat of this last storm.]

I really am hoping we get snow for Christmas. We haven’t had a white Christmas in a long while. Sure, in years past we’ve had token snowfalls, but not where you can get out on Christmas day and go sledding, or make snow angels, or get clobbered with snowballs. Aw, yes - great memories. Well, here’s to hoping.

Here’s a cute video clip I found. A family snowball fight in Duggers, Indiana in 1957:

Day 12: The Greeting Card.

Date December 12, 2007

I’ve been hard at work finishing up the 2007 Christmas card, so I didn’t get the other post up I wanted to today. Instead, I’ll share the prototype for this year’s card. It was designed with a throwback theme, and incorporated photos including one of my grandmother as a child.

xmas07cardHope you like it. Over the years, these have become a lot of fun to pull together.
