I’ve got a Big announcement to share…

Date April 24, 2008

xtrI’ve got big big exciting news for y’all!

Anyone who visits my site will know that I write a lot about my teenage son, Nick. Well, he’s going to grace us with a bi-weekly blog here at Cold Coffee. He says I need a fresh Springtime twist.

Tentatively titled “Frapps with Nick” will look at life as a teen/young adult - through his eyes, ears, and mouth - with music, video, stories, anecdotes, and may even advice - in the style that is “Nick” ’cause, of course - that’s how he rolls!

Nick: So, can I cuss?
Moi: No F-bombs.
Nick: Can I write about drugs and alcohol?
Moi: Only if you want to come visit me in jail.
Nick: What about hookers?
Moi: Sure - why not. I offered to get you one for your 16th birthday.
Nick: Yeah, that was embarrassing. Maybe now I’ll turn the table on you - reveal some of your embarrassing moments.
Moi: I think I do that quite well on my own, but okay.

Between Lisa, Nick, and myself - and you my readers - we should be able to provide quite a variety of entertainment. You’ll either be excited or appalled. I kid! I kid!

So are you excited? If you have topics you’d like Nick to explore, drop him a comment at the Contact page.

P.S. Don’t worry - Mom (Moi) still maintains editorial rights over what he has to say.

sunshone

Sunshine came softly through my a-window today
Could’ve tripped out easy a-but I’ve a-changed my ways
It’ll take time, I know it but in a while
You’re gonna be mine, I know it, we’ll do it in style
Sunshine Superman, Donovan

What a tease Spring is. Bitch!

I lay here in bed on a Saturday afternoon (’cause I’m lazy like that) watching the sun play hide and seek behind the cold, cold clouds. I know I should be up and out, but I’m not. Nick proclaimed I should take a shower; that I’m smelling a little funky.  I did the P&T (pits and tits) this morning, and climbed back in bed. Hey, it’s just me here!

His comment did amuse me, considering the fact I know when he’s at home by just opening the door and catching a whiff of his shoes.

Anyhow, I need to spend some quality time with me, and the spiders and centipedes who share these walls that I call home. Plus, it lets me catch up on the happenings in the blogosphere that I miss during the weekdays.

I would like to thank you, and you, and you - and you over there in the corner lurking.

All y’all help contribute to the light and airy (translation - unpredictable) bistro that is Cold Coffee. Seriously!

So I’m extending this award to YOU - my readers/ stalkers/ guests/ (fill in title here). Take a bow. Pat yourselves on the back. You deserve it!

Pick up this book, put your fears behind you, and journey into the blogging arena.

Date March 4, 2008

Recently, I picked up the Moxie Girls’ (Joelle and Kathy) book tailored towards current and future bloggers- The IT Girl’s Guide to Blogging with Moxie. From the very first page, this self-guided book explains - soup to nuts - everything you could possibly want to know about blogging - from concepts to design to implementation.

blogging with moxieJoelle and Kathy have put together a very non-technical and easy-to-understand tutorial that will have a new blogger up and blogging in the worldwide blogosphere by the time they complete the book. Interspersed throughout are great little bonuses, treats and rewards as various steps have been achieved.

While this guide was laid out step-by-step, the more savvy technies can jump around to specific target areas of interest. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about blogging, you’ll still want to read this and keep it on hand for reference (and entertainment). More than likely, you’ll pick up something new that you didn’t know before.

“Blogging with Moxie” is entertaining, enlightening, and empowering to those who don’t think they have the moxie to get out there and join the ranks of other bloggers. Don’t miss out on that chance. Pick up this book, put your fears behind you and journey into a new realm of social networks, personal (and business) blogs, and leave your own personal footprint on the web - with a twist of moxie.

Cheers!
