   What exactly is the point here? And what a terrible image–the entire globe beneath a human boot track. What an awful message to send, even if I think the point of this post is to encourage us to do something to leave our mark on the world in a positive way. There is nothing positive about this image. Eck.

   @Ann - the message is exactly as it’s stated - life is short and enjoy it. Take risks, don’t talk about the things you want to do - Do them. DON’T BE AFRAID TO LIVE.

   While you may not like that image - it was chosen for a reason. A footprint in the sand will disappear with the next wave that reaches the shore. The symbolism of this one is that it’s large and deep and would be difficult to erase - a lasting memory of your life.

   Having just finished an environmental biology class last semester, my first thought of your graphic was our “carbon foorprint.” But I am happy you cleared up the misconception.

   I can see Ann’s point purely on an environmental level, but I don’t see the quote as being about that at all, so I can co-opt the image to dovetail with the quote with no problem.
