Saturday afternoon, Nick and Gar trekked into the city for the tattoo show over at the Roseland. Nick’s been dying to get another tattoo and I won’t let him until he’s 18. At 16, we let him get one. And when he turns 18 (in New Orleans with his dad), he’s planning on getting another one. Needless to say, they arrived back from the show with no ink. But with ideas.
Meanwhile, late Saturday night, I get an email from sis. She had a night out bonding with her daughter - and the 2 of them got inked. And they didn’t even go to any tattoo shows. Sis’ new one is pretty cool. I’ll see if she’ll let me broadcast it.
Needless to say, Nick’s all “that’s not fair.” Yeah, bud - get over it.

While the boys were out and about, I went in search of some herbs. NOT that kind - although that probably would’ve made the next task more fun, but oh well. I planted a small herb garden on my patio: dwarf Thai basil, sweet basil, rosemary, curly parsley. And then I threw in some banana peppers - for Nick. Just to see if they’ll grow in the murky, moldy partially sunny backyard (click the picture for full sized image).
I showed y’all the invasion of the caterpillars that we’ve been subjected to. I’m really hoping they stay out of my garden. Still looking for a deterrent - besides lighter fluid.

Saturday, while I was out, I called my friend C to see what she was up to. I was over at K-Mart looking for some outdoor plants, and not finding what I wanted, started to leave.
Moi: Hi there - sorry I didn’t call you back yesterday. Just wanted to let you know I survived Friday, but boy was it ROUGH!
(I drank wayyyyy too much Thursday night and was suffering Friday!)
C: Yeah, it was for me, too.
Moi (pushing a shopping cart looking for plants): Hold on a sec, C -
Moi (addressing store personnel): Sir, where are all the plants? They used to be here in the garden center.
Storeguy: Yeah, they moved them all up front.
Moi: That’s all there are?
Storeguy: That’s it.
Moi: Well they suck. Thanks anyways.
C: Why not go over to Rockledge.
Moi: I’m at K-Mart now. I could swing by there.
C: You’re at K-Mart? I’m at K-Mart. Where are you?
Moi: I’m outside in the garden - well, what I thought was the garden center.
C: I’m inside.
Moi: No shit? In Wayne?
C: Meet me inside.
Moi: Headed that way now.
How funny. Couldn’t have planned that better if we’d tried. Anyway, we left K-Mart with C’s purchases and went over to Rockledge, a garden nursery - where I picked up my herbs. Afterwards, we left and headed over to Ch’s for some relaxation, and sat out on the deck drinking wine and chatting.

And last item - Nick introduced me to a new “regular” diner in town (PL) where we had a great breakfast. They all know him because he goes there quite often for lunch. So, with our regular waitress out on maternity leave at our favorite diner, and the not-so-stellar service we’ve gotten with her stand-ins, we’re opting to boycott until she comes back. Besides, the PL diner is in walking distance. We can eat our breakfast and walk it off afterwards. Cool!
So that was my non-exciting weekend. Got a lot done, though. And that’s always a good thing.
How was yours?
