   Poor mama-to-be robin. What ever got the eggs probably left a scent that has scared her away now. People do incubate eggs, most baby chickens in our country never had a hen sitting on its egg to hatch. But then you will have to get a feeder, etc. And the wildlife may reject it after it is grown anyway.

   You have pretty, but sad-storied pictures. Happy WW! My friends dog is a nice one for the world to go to! :-)

   @Elaine - those are real. They’re very small, about the size of a quarter, if that big. I was very disheartened to see them when I got home tonight. Still no sign of the momma bird, either.

   So sad , hope the mother comes back for the one that is still left.

   The color of the eggs is so beautiful ..would you know the bird ?

    Great shots! It’s that time of year. I found a couple of broken eggs in the grass on the side of my house the other day. I always worry because my cat is such a predator and the baby birds are just no match for him. But then again, neither were the baby bunnies he brought to me. Nature is often cruel!
