“Mom, you promise you won’t get mad at me if I tell you something?”

“Huh?”

“Promise you won’t get mad if I tell you something.”

“Well Nick, that depends on what it is.”

“School pictures came out today.”

“Yeah?”

“You know that form we had to give the guy to take the pictures? Well, I didn’t have mine. It’s here at the house - (pointing) I hid it on the shelf so you wouldn’t know. Until now.”

“Nick, you didn’t forget - Jees, buddy, not again?” Mind you, this wasn’t the first time. The same thing happened two years ago.

“(Reaching behind him and retrieving his school ID) But here’s what it looked like. See (heartily laughing) - it’s pretty bad. Thank God I’m doing a re-shoot.”

I look at the ID card.

On it, there’s a tiny thumbnail-sized picture. I squint to see it. He was right - not his best picture.

He continued, “when they do the re-shoot, I’ll be prepared to smile.” “(Flashing a smile) See!”

“So, are you mad at me?”

“No Nick, I’m not mad. But if you screw up the re-shoot, I’ll post that picture all over the web for everyone to see - friends, family, and strangers alike.”

“(Laughing) Yeah, I know. Don’t worry, I won’t.”

“Yeah, we’ll see. Seems like I just heard that the other day.” Hmmm……

So later in the evening, I’m telling Nick’s dad about the pictures, and show him the ID card. And what did he have to say? “Thank God he’s gonna do a re-shoot.” Man - like father, like son!

(I’ll post the ID when I can get the scanner to work.) This ranks up there with some of those horrible mug shots I’ve seen. haha. Nanny and family - reckon it’ll be Christmas now before you get your’s. :/
