Wherever may you travel,
and wherever may you roam;
whatever may you do in life
you’ll never walk alone.
For ‘though the miles be many,
and ‘though we’re far apart,
there’ll always be a special place …
held sacred in my heart.
So as you wake each morning;
as you work and play,
as you fall asleep each night…
I send this wish your way.
May good luck be on your side,
and may fortune be your friend,
may God’s good graces keep you safe …
until we meet again.

My uncle “D-” passed away last night, having lost his brief battle with lung cancer. He was only 57 years old. D- refused to give in until the very end, and went in his way - stubborn, and sliding in sideways. The same way he had lived his life.
I didn’t get to say goodbye to him and, for that, I am angry with myself. So I hope these words somehow make it to you, D- … Keep up the good fight up there, don’t back down, and I’ll see you again someday. I love you.

“Life’s journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out shouting - ‘Holy **batman** … what a ride!’” (unknown)
