VP: “Hello, Ms. M - this is Mr. Martin, Vice Principal at the High School.”
Moi: “Funny, I was just on another line dialing the school’s number. How can I help you?”
VP: “I’ve got Nick here - he’s informed me he’s going on a trip and won’t be in school again until next Tuesday? I don’t have a note from a parent, and just need to confirm what he’s telling me.”
Moi: “He’s just now telling you this? He was supposed to let y’all know earlier in the week. That’s why I’m calling - to make sure he did. Guess I just answered my own question. But yeah, he’s going away on a trip.”
VP: “There’s a green form that needs to be filled out, and he needs to tell his teachers.”
Moi: “He told me his teachers already know.” (I’m wondering now if they really did.)
Moi: “Can you send the form home and I’ll fill it out and have him bring it back next week? His dad is taking him to New Orleans to see the Saints and Panthers game. It’s his birthday present.”
VP: (Sounding annoyed) “Okay, but don’t forget.”
Moi: “Thanks. And, don’t worry, I won’t.”
So where’s the form?
Nick forgot it - it’s at school.
