The following are a selection of poems written by my teenage son, Nick - a promising and aspiring young poet. Hope you enjoy them.
The tears flow from my eyes,
Run down my face,
And come to a landing,
All because of what you did to me.
The thoughts of us together,
Will never leave me,
I could never forget them.
I wish this wasn’t the end,
I will never get over you,
I’m sure I am easy to though,
Or at least that’s how it sounds.
I’ll stand up with you forever,
Even if I’m not there,
I’ll flow in your spirit.
You know it too.
The seasons are changing,
Fall to winter,
Spring to summer.
The end is near,
But I’m not ready to approach it.

If I hurt you,
Would you still love me?
If we weren’t the way we are now,
Would you still hug me?
If I walked right past you,
Would you look back?
If you saw me in 10 years,
Would you still recognize me?
If you became rich and famous,
Would you still speak to me?
If you became deathly sick,
Would you call me to tell me goodbye?
Because you know I’d say yes.

My heart turns to stone,
Every time I see your smile.
The sunset on the twilight sky,
And through the fading sun,
I could see your silhouette,
And the boy you were with.
You seemed so happy,
So much happier than you did with me,
I hope you are happy now,
Because I’m sure not,
But personal happiness,
Comes before that of your peers.
I still remember all those times we shared,
And how you said you would always be there,
What happened to that,
You said you would be there until the world would end,
Well the world hasn’t ended for you,
But it has for me.
