An interesting question was posed to me earlier today.
As the human race continues to evolve over the next 100 years, which of the following seems to be the most probable:
- Artificial intelligence, i.e., cyborg
- Biomedicine - i.e., clone
- Tapping into unused portions of the brain
The art of science and medicine is teetering on the brink of overload, crossing the line between ethical and experimental. To say that something good could come out of discovery is also to say that something equally as bad could result, affecting the future of the human race and its place in society.
So much emphasis is placed on perfection. Today, body parts are harvested to replace those that are diseased. Synthetics. biochips. Invitro. Extraordinary advancements to aid in the progress of medicine and science while at the same time, vehicles for the black market to exploit.
I would like to think that, instead of trying to develop the perfect body, or preserve the body, scientists are just as interested in tapping into the human psyche, and identifying new facets previously undiscovered.
So, my answer - #3.
